Luisito goes to seminary

Paty says she never really believed he would actually go.  But he is gone, and he will only see them once a month on a Sunday.  It is a huge sacrifice for Flora to make as a mother, I can't imagine how painful it would be to part with your 13 year old son.  Abuela was the most visibly upset by it, and she even says she wants to leave back to Tabasco now.  She says Luis was her reason to be here.  I am happy for Luis, I hope it is a good thing for him.  We are all still in a bit of a state of shock.  I will update when we know more about how he is doing.

Saturday birthday party

We went to Steven's fifth birthday party at Paamul. Was really nice and fun :) Solly whaled on the piƱata in an attempt to crack it open. He sure gave it a good try! We swam, ate sausages off the grill and had a great time. Life is good!

Solomon and Oliver. Chapter one...

It's his first real close friend.  He begs to go to his house and when they are together they are like a team, they laugh at the same things, they get excited together and I think Solly would even eat broccoli if Oliver was :)  I dropped him off at Oliver's house yesterday and he jumped out of the car and started marching to  the front door without even a goodbye!  I yelled "hey! where's my kiss?" he groaned and stomped back to give me one.  He is really growing up, sniff :(  It is bittersweet for sure.  He is a real boy now.  He certainly has a will of his own now and his own ideas.  What a joy to be his mother, what an amazing gift.  Seriously, I am floored by the gift of it.

Our after school special

When I was a kid, I would come home after school and watch t.v. I would make sandwiches in the microwave with sliced cheese and white bread. It wasn't bad or anything, don't get me wrong. I was just a "latch-key kid". My mom was struggling to get her degree on a meager budget with no help. It feels very fortunate that this is my kids "after school routine". I am constantly aware of how lucky we are.  I get to spend all my time with my kids.  I am forever grateful.

Life in our backyard jungle

The banana plants are going nuts, or... bananas. The sucker that was five feet tall in the spring is taller than the casita and is producing fruit already. It has two baby suckers at it's feet and is just enormous. Over to the right there is a sucker that is growing huge and already having babies. Matilda is feeling better and is back to playing with her ball and barking at coatimundis beyond the fence :)
