The trip from Seattle to Playa

We departed at 12:50 AM on Saturday the 28th (leaving for the airport on Friday night). It was a long trip with a four hour layover in Minneapolis of all places. However, we were bumped to first class on the second leg and now we are here in paradise. Lots to do here, some fence mending, painting and replacing some broken appliances. Mostly, it all great. Kids in bed now and we are having our much relished grown up time. Emily arrives tomorrow and Tilda on Tuesday.
Love you,

Blogging from 30,000 feet above god only knows where...

We are on our last leg of the journey. I really cannot complain at this point. We are in business class and Solomon is fast asleep. They just served a decent meal and we are almost in Mexico... The goodbyes proved harder than I anticipated. Looking out the window from the airport bus at Gam and Pa waving goodbye I had a huge heaviness in my heart. I love them so much, we all love them so much. We will see them at Christmas in New York and once we are settled in we will start counting down the days until that :) The hurricane passed and ended as not much more than a tropical depression, leaving us relieved. Matilda arrives Tuesday from Raft Island and Emily arrives Monday from New York. That's pretty much the update for now, we are all safe and well.

A birthday letter to Solly from Mikala

Dear Solly and Fam.

I haven't been home the last week, because of a 'leader course'.
But now that I am back, I do not think that it is fair to totally forget your birthday. So I'm just gonna send you a 'late-birthday-wish'..
I am so amazed of you. I can't believe what a great boy you are. I have known you for a while now, and I have seen you grow from a baby into a little boy. You can't imagine how glad I am that I got to be such a big part of your life for so long. You are amazing, and you make me smile every time I think of you. I have a lot of pictures I often look at, and every time I look at them I will discover something new. as recently as a moment ago, when I looked at pictures of you, I saw how big of a change there have been since I meet you the first time. I have some pictures of you from when I visited you 3 years ago, when you were just a little baby who could barely talk. It is amazing to think of. I remember when Bekke let me take you for a walk in New York, and I remember how proud I was. I new that she trusted me. And I guess you did too, because you went with me without complaining too much.
I just have to say the famous words one more time Solly; I love you, and I always will. Happy Birthday:)

Love from Mikala

Ps. Now when you are moving to Mexico (Which I wish you lots of luck with. I’m sure it will be great for you!) I would like to give the mail system another try, so if you could please send me your address ‘over there’ that would be great:)

Love, Auntie Nessa and Uncle Simon

Solly's fourth birthday party

Everything was great today. The weather cooperated, the company was fabulous and Solly was a happy boy. Hard to believe he is four (tomorrow) and hard to believe that I am lucky enough to be his Mother. Every year at this time I think of Solomon's bio Mother and hope she is ok... I hope she is safe and well and happy. I am forever indebted to her, and will always love, cherish and take care of the child she brought into this world. I am completely and totally humbled to be Solly's Mom. Here are some pictures of our wonderful day.

Happy birthday King Solomon

October 13th, 2011

I had an appointment and the kids went to play in the park. Pa gave them these flags from the garage and they had a riot waving them around everywhere. I am sure Gam will be happy for the Danish pictures :) We met up with Gam and Pa for dinner and tomorrow are meeting them at the pumpkin patch for an annual photo shoot :)
Love you,

Two weeks today until Mexico

I've been running around trying to get everything done while also trying to run a (somewhat) normal household with beds to sleep on and dishes to eat on. It is hard to move to another country and be in the transition period without a little disarray and chaos. I have been slowly packing boxes of things we can live without and transporting them over to Gam and Pa's where they so graciously are allowing us to store them. I admit I am getting nervous and a bit on edge, Brad is so busy at work he barely has time to be with the kids as much as he wants.  We are trying to keep our eye on the prize, which is obviously being at home in Playa with the kids and relaxing...  In the meantime the kids are blissfully unaware of the work being done for the move and thanks to Patty (best nanny on earth) and I, their school and play schedule continues on as usual.  Here are a few taken recently at JUMP, a favorite spot to go nutty here in "the Harbor"

Most awesome bedhead award goes to Dede
